Thank god someone is here to post!!! at least this forum will be useful again.
Ryan. i kno u want to make games but u can't start out as high as C++. C++
requires a basic and sometimes more advanced knowledge of programming.
Start with quickbasic. It is by far the easiest of the easy and will clear up a couple things u might need to kno. Move onto slightly more advanced programming like visual basic or Pascal. Visual Basic can be used to make games but if u do the results will come out crappy and people will throw rocks at you for trying. Move onto an even more advanced language, C. C can be used to make games and most game developers prefer it to any other language for 3D programming. This is not the case. C will give u a feel for what C++ is and has to offer. Then u learn C++. C++ alone will not let u make any games, u have to utilize those functions in DirectX and OpenGL (3D "utilities"). They are both coded in C or C++. But before u start either make sure to pick up a book or tutorial on the 3D Math Primer (which is the basic form of math used in 3D programming) After brushing up on 3D math, then u can start DirectX or OpenGL. You could use a rip off language or program
like Maya or Torque. But in the end your games will come out crappy and people will laugh at you.

www.gamedev.net is also a great site for getting started on video game programming
Look on other tutorial sites for anything not listed here |
