We all know Microsoft is a ripoff. The stripped down version of Office 2003 -you know, the one that only includes Outlook, Excel, Word and Powerpoint- costs...$400!? There's a program called openoffice and it kicks Office 2003 in the ass (and its free). It has a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation program, drawing program (think Corel Draw, not MS paint) and even a decent HTML editor. It supports all the Office 98-03extensions and many more. OpenOffice has many great functions from Office and other programs except for a select annoying few which you can always bring back with plugins. It can even port to a PDF file! Take that Microsoft aholes.

P.S. it said inquiries so I posted here

OpenOffice is cool, I used it before when it hit version 1. (Now its at version 1.1 I believe..) Its a very good alternative for Linux users and for us Windows users d'loading an illigal copy of MS Word. Its coded very well since its done by Sun Microsystems. Hopefully it'll stay lightweight even as it reaches higher update levels.

your pretty close, its 1.1.4. I'm thinking about joining the programming team although i'm dissapointed at no pay... usually i get paid for the smallest snippets of source code. I guess it'll be a hobby or somethin. I'll carry over openoffice when i make the switch to all source debian linux after i order a new hard drive off newegg. (debian is free too, take that Microsoft bastards!)
I heard you use linux too.

Coincidently I have used the "Sarge" version of Debian awhile back. (Debian is the BEST distro of Linux in terms of compatibility & stableness.) Microsoft isn't the real OS enemy though. I hate Apple more mainly because of their over marketed mp3 player: Ipod. (Ipod ads are so frikken annoying) Also Apple needs to learn that having a cool GUI isn't what consumers look for in an OS. Lastly the Apple OSX was actually made from FreeBSD, all Apple did was add a cool GUI to it (which slowed it down) and "covered up" the BSD code, so they wouldn't have to pay FreeBSD for general coding...Talk about cheep bastards.

hmmmmmmm....? a TeRaFlOPPP??! holy fckin sht...
The X360 maybe inpressive but i'll wait for the PS3 and Cellprocessing details to come out before I make conclusion. It's bad to make a conclusion before both sides show their true being (*cough* Nintendo DS).

microsoft is trying to take over the world or something. pretty soon, the only software you'll be using is microsoft software.(if you aren't already doing that) If you don't then they'll track you down and put you in concentration camps.

Microsoft went downhill after the company split in 2 because of its size not too long ago. Plus, better software is coming out from different companies and with the merging of Macromedia and Adobe there might be a new software leader. On second thought, microsoft might already have concentration camps in austria and turkey......

huh Confused when did it split in two?
"macrodobe" doesn't make operating systems. just publishing software. Microsoft has still got the edge.

Publishing software may one day become more powerful than the OS's them selves. And microsoft split around 2 years ago, i think. Thats why you don't get all those extra goodies in XP anymore.

it really didn't spilt into 2 companies but merely 2 sectors of microsoft. The extra goodies were the tools featured in Windows XP. Now if you buy xp (or any other microsoft OS) you won't get Microsoft office originally included. You'll get a generic replacement like MS Works or Money. They had to split MS because everyone was buying their products and not other companies.
